Heritage History Study Aids

Resources for Teachers, Homeschoolers, and History Lovers

The Study Aids listed below are organized by historical topic and are intended for History teachers, Homeschoolers, and independent scholars. They include reference material, maps, and timelines that covers each historical period in moderate detail. Many of the Study Aids were developed as part of the Heritage Classical Curriculum but can be used with almost any traditional history program.

Most of the resources listed below are intended for Middle and High School students. Resources for younger children are included in the Young Readers collection. Some Study Aids are available in printable PDF and others are in online (HTML) format. In cases were both forms exist multiple links are provided.

Resources for Younger Readers

In addition to the Civilization based study programs described above, there is an additonal collection intended for elementary students. The Young Readers Curriculum is Heritage History's "Introductory" study program. It was designed for children who are reading fluently but are not ready for systematic history. The Young Readers collection is composed of eighty of our easiest to read books selected from the civilization libraries described above. Some study aids, including timelines and character lists are provided for the Young Readers unit, but they cover only selected facts. More information about the Young Readers Curriculum is available here.

Heritage Academy Status

Most of the material provided above was developed as part of the Heritage Academy, an online study program that we are currently in the process of revising. We are working to transfer the Academy program, which includes study questions as well as books and learning aids, to an app that students can use on their tablets or lap tops, so they can study history without relying on the internet. The online version of the Heritage Academy is currently inactive, as we update our program for the next generation.
