Printable Resources for Ancient Rome

Heritage History promotes reading as the best way to learn history, but we believe that having access to visual study aids such as timelines, maps, and character lists can help students with comprehension. We encourage students to create a notebook as soon as they begin studying Ancient Rome and to have it on hand when doing their assigned reading or answering study review questions.

This page contains links to dozens of printable resources that can be used to create an Ancient Rome notebook. The only supplies needed are a printer, a three-ring notebook with clear front cover, section dividers, and page protectors. An example of how to Create a History Notebook is provided for those who would like more details.

There are eight units in the Ancient Rome Unit, but for efficiency we have combined several of them and added an "Overview" section at the beginning and an "Appendix" at the end. The suggested contents of each of these divisions is included in the table below but students can organize their own notebooks in whatever manner is most helpful.

Some students may choose to print only a few of the available resources, while others may print everything and add additional material from the internet. But as a minimum we recommend printing the maps, timelines, and character lists. Having these references handy is especially helpful to students who are interested in mastering the details of Roman history.
