Heroes of Modern Europe - Alice Birkhead



The author recounts the lives of two dozen of the most prominent men of Europe with special emphasis on their role in the conflict between the Church and state. The lives of Dante, Luther, Charles V, Henry of Navarre, Peter the Great, Voltaire, Frederick the Great, Napoleon and Garibaldi are given along with others, from a generally progressive point of view.
